What is mindfulness?
Most of you have probably heard of it and have a pretty good idea what it is about.
The wiki describes it as:
"the psychological process of bringing one's attention to the internal and external experiences occurring in the present moment, which can be developed through the practice of meditation and other training.
The term "mindfulness" is a translation of the Pali term sati, which is a significant element of some Buddhist traditions. The recent popularity of mindfulness in the West is generally considered to have been initiated by Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Large population-based research studies have indicated that the practice of mindfulness is strongly
correlated with greater well-being and perceived health.
For a few years I used the format of Mindfulness lectures around a theme, for example Mindfulness and emotions, Mindfulness and Relationships etc. The books are based on the lectures of Jon Kabat-Zinn and are still available in Second Life at the Center for Mindfulness.
Every Tuesday I was plowing through big chunks of theory and scientific facts, all very educational but too much to remember for most of us. So I decided to rethink the way I share what I learn with you in a short and efficient manner.
Mindful thoughts.
15 minutes before the daily Mindful Meditation I will share a few thoughts with you that have helped me (a lot) and are rather easy to learn and make into a habit, yet have a great impact on our daily life.
As always I will keep repeating many times so that when you miss a day you can catch up. The Mindful Thoughts will also be on the Mindfulness blog.
I would love this 15 min can become a interactive meeting where I can learn from you too, do bring your knowledge and share with us.
Hope to see you there! ♥
Disclaimer: I am not a certified Mindfulness mentor, nor a therapist or psychologist. I share with you what I learn, bring your attention to useful snippets I found. I encourage you to question everything I tell you and do your own investigation.
